Reserve your spot for Minibass Bash on September 8th, 2018 in the Concert hall of Florida International University Main campus.

The Miami International Academy of Double Bass in conjunction with the School of Music at Florida International University would like to extend an invitation to participate in a very unique music program taking place on September 8th in the Concert hall of the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center: The Claus Freudenstein’s Minibass Bash!!

Claus Freudenstein brings his very successful Minibass program from Munich to Miami in an effort to strengthen our existing musical collaboration with the Dade County Public School system. From September 4th thru September 7th, we intend to visit a number of interested schools in the area who will be introduced to this new approach to learning which has proved to be both fun and educational. An increase in the worldwide popularity of the double bass is certainly due to new methodologies that yield a better technique and great motivation for the students of the instrument.
Claus Freudenstein, a German pedagogue and world acclaimed performer, developed a program designed with younger children in mind. Centered around the smaller size bass for the young bass student, it promotes a sense of achievement within the first hours of instruction on the instrument. The pedagogical methodology is a supplement to the instructional system used by Mr. Freudenstein.

Claus’ initial contact with MIAbass triggered a series of talks intended to make this initiative a reality for our growing, dynamic, and musical city. Claus and the double bass faculty at MIAbass are dedicated to accomplishing our vision: making Miami the double bass nucleus for education and performance in the Americas. MIAbass is dedicated to the teaching, development, and performing of the classical and jazz bass for all levels of players and teachers in the greater Miami area, and above all serving as a musical link to our Latin-american fellow doublebass students and teachers.
Established in 2016, MIAbass is a Miami based organization that brings worldwide class-talent to its workshops and lessons. Progressively accomplishing its vision as originally envisioned by world-class soloist Jeff Bradetich, who sees the musical potential of the city as it pertains to the double bass. Our team of teachers and performers include many icons of the double bass such as Eugene Levinson, former principal of the New York Philharmonic, Dr. Gudrun Raschen, also a pioneer double bass pedagogue, Ryohei Morita, Principal of the Kagoshima Symphony Orchestra, Felix Petit who developed the Latin American academy of double bass, and Matt Bonelli former member of the famed Bee Gees among others.

We are confident to have all of your support for our first Minibass Bash which will take place at the Florida International University, Modesto Maidique Campus’ Wertheim Performing Arts Center on September 8th, 2018 starting at 9 am. MIAbass wants to extend an invitation to the Miami-Dade public schools’ students and music teachers to bring their basses and participate in this unique opportunity to learn the beauties of the double bass in the hands and mind of a great pedagogue and innovator: Claus Freudenstein. We hope to see you all there!
